Former Governor McCrory should keep politics out of hurricane relief
Former Governor Pat McCrory sadly politicized Hurricane Matthew relief efforts at an appearance at the NCGOP Convention on Saturday.
"Right now my biggest fear is for the Hurricane Matthew victims because I made a commitment to them and I called a special session to get them the money needed to help them recover and get them shelter. I want to encourage our governor to start doing just that and quit blaming the President. The issue’s not money, the issue is action. I promised them action and sometimes it takes a Governor to do it correctly.” - Pat McCrory
McCrory should listen to Republican politicians that still actually hold office, like Republican Sen. Richard Burr who said,” “Hurricane recovery has always been and should continue to be above partisan finger pointing.”
Burr, along with Sen. Thom Tillis and others, have been working with Gov. Cooper in a bipartisan effort to secure hurricane relief funding. Back in May it was announced that North Carolina would only receive $6.1 million of the $929 million requested for hurricane relief.
McCrory should give up his lost campaign and join the Democrats AND Republicans that are trying to get Washington, DC to finally work for North Carolina’s hurricane victims.
